Method
MockClear is a pre-ship license check tool. We read publicly posted license and terms pages, map them to plain-language use scenarios, and show the date we verified them.
How we verify
- Open the maker’s public license / terms URL.
- Map each of five scenarios: client pitch, client deliverable, merch / POD, paid ads, redistribute source.
- If the text is ambiguous, we mark UNCLEAR — we do not invent permissions.
- Every pack page links the original license and shows a verified date.
Verdict definitions
Overall stamp on pack pages
The large header stamp is the worst verdict among client pitch, client deliverable, merch / POD, and paid ads. Redistribute source is excluded from that roll-up (it stays visible in the matrix) so a routine “no redistribute” does not stamp every pack × NOT ALLOWED.
~90-day review
We aim to re-open each pack’s license URL on roughly a 90-day cycle (or sooner if a maker announces a change). When a verdict moves, it appears on Changes.
Sponsors never buy verdicts
Featured placement and Verified exposure are paid for visibility only. Paying does not change a CLEAR / CONDITIONS / NOT ALLOWED / UNCLEAR answer. Affiliate links also do not change answers. See Disclosure.
Not legal advice
This is editorial research. Trademark rules, client contracts, and local law can still block a use that looks fine on a mockup license. When risk is high, ask a lawyer.
